MASTER ALLOY
Aluminium's mechanical and physical properties can be tailored using alloying elements, often referred to as hardeners. Aluminium-based master alloys, containing high concentrations of alloying elements, enable efficient and economical property enhancements. These alloys dissolve at the lower melting point of liquid aluminium, reducing oxidation, gasification, energy consumption, and CO2 emissions while extending furnace life. Alumetal Group produces master alloys such as AlMn, AlSi, AlCu, AlNi, AlCr, AlFe, AlTi, AlMg, and AlZr, available in standard or customized compositions and forms like waffles (435mm x 208mm x 50mm, 7-12 kg) stacked in 1000 kg bundles.

Modifiers offered by Alumetal improve the microstructure of silicon-aluminium alloys, enhancing strength, ductility, and plasticity. For hypoeutectic silicon-aluminium alloys, Alumetal provides strontium-based modifiers, including AlSr10, AlSr15, and AlSr20, tailored to meet diverse industrial needs.

GRAIN REFINER
Grain size control is crucial in foundries to ensure product quality, reduce costs, and enhance production efficiency. AlTiB grain refiners, added to the aluminium smelting process, release nucleating elements that form fine, equiaxial grains, preventing columnar crystals and improving homogeneity, porosity reduction, and hot cracking resistance. This results in better mechanical properties, machinability, and enhanced thermal processing.

AlTiB master alloys consist of TiB2 (1-2 microns) and TiAl3 (30-50 microns) particles, both essential for grain refinement. Widely used globally, AlTiB improves alloy crystallization, mechanical strength, fatigue resistance, and reduces casting defects like shrinkage and porosity. Alumetal has produced AlTiB grain refiners since 2018, meeting the highest quality standards for foundry applications.
